Details

Verdun series is all stainless steel knives. The blade integrated with the stainless handle is able to be sterilized in boiling water and eventually prevents the colonization and invasion of bacteria. It is dishwasher-safe. The blade is made of molybdenum steel which has great sharpness.


Care and Maintenance

Please follow the instructions below to ensure a lifetime of Japanese knives.

  1. Apply mild detergent on a soft sponge or wet cloth to clean. Do not use bleach. Do not use dishwasher.
  2. Use a clean dry cloth to wipe and dry it immeadiately after every use.
  3. Use sharpening stones to sharpen Japanese knives do not use a sharpening steel
  4. For less freaquently used knives apply oil very thinly after the knives are sharpened cleaned and dried.

About Tsubame Sanjo

The neighboring cities of Tsubame and Sanjo are located almost directly in the center of Niigata prefecture in Japan. It is said that the areas metalworking industry began with the production of WAKUGI (traditional Japanese nails) in the beginning of the Edo period (1603-1867). Since then the metalworking industry in the City of Sanjo has flourished with the establishment of roughly 300 blacksmith shops by the end of the Edo period. These blacksmiths; using their skills and techniques from wakugi making; continued on to produce cleavers; sickles; kitchen knives; chisels;etc.leading to its current production of tools and other metalwork products.
